Gustav Dentzel Carousel Horse

American, Philadelphia Style. Restord Paint.

60" x 64", circa 1900. This beautiful Dentzel outer row standing horse was first known to have ridden the carousel at Audubon Park in New Orleans where it remained from the very early part of the twentieth century through the next sixty five years. It then appeared at the Hemisfair in San Antonio, Texas in 1968. It moved to Ledford's Kiddieland in Lawton, Texas before finally ending up in President's Park in Carlsbad, New Mexico where it was named the "Teddy Roosevelt Carousel". The horse was restored and painted in 1991. At that time, no repairs or replaced elements were noted. With a substantial eagle cantle and fascinating character on the chest, this is truly a noteworthy figure. An article about this carousel appeared in The Carousel News and Trader, March, 2010.

Estimate: $30,000 - 40,000
